About Me

Rog and Sue Lloyd sold their home in Meadow Vista, CA in July, 2005 and enjoyed life aboard their catamaran NEOS for eight years. They sailed the 48 foot catamaran throughout the Caribbean, through the Panama Canal and on the Pacific Coast from Ecuador to Mexico. Neos was sold in July of 2013 and Rog and Sue returned to life on land. They are now settled in Rocklin, CA close to family and contemplating how they will spend their future as CLODs; cruisers living on dirt.

NEOS LOG March 2023

We headed over to the Blooms to help Karissa get ready for a dance at her school. I curled her hair for her and it turned out very curly and bouncy.
Rog had his second surgery. The right foot has healed pretty nicely so he is going ahead with fixing the left large toe. Surgery went smoothly and he had almost no pain from the very start. Dr. Giza told him that he had used a new technique, packing the site with a paste of novocaine and ibuprofen. It was supposed to reduce pain and inflammation. Seems to have done the trick in Rog’s case. He relaxed for the weekend, icing it every hour and taking his tylenol and ibuprofen. He stopped using crutches after about three days. At his post surgery checkup 10 days after surgery, he got rid of the boot and wore his tennis shoes. He was driving a few days before that. All in all, he is doing much better than he did last time, but this toe was not as badly arthritic. He started physical therapy at the end of the month.
We attended the spring band concert at Max’s high school. Max played in the jazz group and then switched from the trumpet and played the French horn in the symphonic band. The groups all sounded amazing and we enjoyed the evening.
Dusty, our vacuum robot picked up a plastic clamp that got caught in the brush and burned out a part. Rog did the google research and got the part, installed it and I have my vacuum back. My hero!!!
We enjoyed two special day events with Karissa. She wanted to go to Huckleberry’s for breakfast so we did that, then finished our date with a trip to Creative Clay Lounge a few days later. We had a class with a pottery wheel with 3 other folks. What a blast!! We each made 2 pieces and learned a lot. A few weeks later, we had lunch at Panda Express, then headed over to Creative Clay Lounge to glaze the pottery we had made. Then we went to see the Rocklin Theater Group put on “The Addams Family”. So much talent!! Great show. Of course all was followed up with a trip to Handel’s for ice cream.
We headed down to San Jose to visit Tom and Linda. It has been a few months since his hospitalization and surgery and he is looking really good. He made a delicious carbonara lunch for us and we had a great visit. The drive was horrendous, but that won’t change. Karissa started playing volleyball with the seventh grade team. We attended the first game and really like the indoor viewing. They won their first game!
We had a special date with Max, starting with dinner at his favorite place, Don Quixote's. Then we headed down to the Folsom Harris Center to see a National Geographic presentation on Whales.
The last week of March was busy getting the van ready for a trip to Montana with Max next month. The rain also let up and I was able to do some weeding and trimming before we leave.
