About Me

Rog and Sue Lloyd sold their home in Meadow Vista, CA in July, 2005 and enjoyed life aboard their catamaran NEOS for eight years. They sailed the 48 foot catamaran throughout the Caribbean, through the Panama Canal and on the Pacific Coast from Ecuador to Mexico. Neos was sold in July of 2013 and Rog and Sue returned to life on land. They are now settled in Rocklin, CA close to family and contemplating how they will spend their future as CLODs; cruisers living on dirt.

MAY 2023

NEOS LOG May 2023 Scout came to spend the day while the Blooms had new windows installed. We watched Karissa play volleyball most Tuesdays and Thursdays. They were undefeated until the last game. One loss all season…not bad!!
Karissa had a school dance and needed some alteration on her dress. Then she asked me to do her hair again. It was tough with the added length but we managed to get some waves in. She went to Chipotle with Brooklyn before the dance and said she had a super time.
Max also had his Junior Prom but he didn’t need any dress alterations or hairdo help:) He and Taylor made corsages out of sheet music for each other.
I saw an allergist for a full work up. Just curious if there is something I need to avoid. And I would really like to have dry eyes for a change. Turns out I am only allergic to grasses. He suggested nasal lavages and nose spray. By the end of the month, I did have drier eyes but they still tear up a lot. I’ll give it another month. Karissa was in a school play. She was Baby Bear (a Russian crime thug) in a farcical fairytale lark, “The Girl with the Golden Locks”. Very imaginative and Karissa did a great job, complete with a fabulous Russian accent.
Rog made me his usual breakfast treat, eggs in a frame. We headed over to the Blooms for a relaxing day with a deli spread for lunch. Rog was in charge of dessert and made brownie sundaes. Great day. Rog and Ryan spent a few hours together at the range and then had lunch together. Rog and I tackled the sling chairs. After seven years in the hot sun, the material finally gave up. It took us a few days, but we finally got them put together. Not sure it has another fix in them…or us. We also spent a few days fixing the vertical blinds in the bedroom.
We had a pair of doves make a nest in the rafters on the patio. The babies finally flew off and we were able to close the screens up. Another pair of doves moved in the day before we closed things up, oh well.
We are down to one station with hydrogen available so the Mirai has been sitting unused in the driveway for two months now. We finally got fed up and went car shopping. It took us eight hours and two Toyota dealerships but we got rid of the Mirai and now have a 2023 RAV4 Limited. That should be the last car we ever have to buy. And, hopefully the last time we have to go through a dealership. With the Mirai, that was our only option.
Max had an end of the year band concert. He played trumpet and trombone in the jazz concert and french horn in the symphonic band. Then he did a fabulous solo during the intermission as well. Amazing talent with all involved. Thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
Time to renew my CA driver license and they now let you do an online course and test. Super easy. Just wish it was easier to use their website to make an appointment. Still working on that! Weather this month has been gorgeous. We had some days in the 90’s at the beginning of the month and I was afraid we were going to miss Spring completely. Then is cooled off to the 70’s and 80’s and we had a super pleasant end to the month. The snow in the mountains is melting, filling up the reservoirs and waterfalls, causing some flooding problems, but a welcome relief to the drought. The garden loves it.
