We got back from our trip to the British Isles rested and ready to tackle more remodeling. Well, almost. I caught a cold the day before we left London and while I spent a few days recuperating, I organized our 1000+ pictures and put together a blog of our trip.
Rog focused on getting the kitchen functional for my birthday. He finished the countertops and the drawers, installed the faucet and sink, the cooktop, the oven and the dishwasher. It was an amazing birthday present and we still go in and just look at it and are amazed. No more trips back and forth into the garage to get water. No more searching through boxes to find a measuring cup. No more working on makeshift tables.
I hung the pendant lights, the can lights, the ceiling fan and the light over the table. So, even though we still have a lot of work to do, the kitchen IS functional. And I am ecstatic!
Now Rog has started on the drawer fronts and the cabinet doors. That means the painter (me) is back in business, as each one takes a prime coat, then sanding, then a finish coat…..on both sides. I ended the month with a small refinishing project. Friends of ours had an old hutch they were dumping. I saw potential and redid it. We cut it down by about 6 inches, cleaned it up, and painted it black. We now use it in our bedroom.
Before
After
We even spent a day at the Fortune Court building; fixing fence slats, doorknobs and electric switches.
On the fun side, this was the month for Max’s date. We took him to How to Train a Dragon 2, then went to In ‘N Out for dinner. After dinner, we headed to Fast Track Hobbies and joined a small group making putt putt boats.
We celebrated our July birthdays with another trip to Tahoe for lunch at Jake’s with Ryan and Beth. Again, we were treated to their fabulous hula pie. And then on my actual birthday, Rog treated me like a queen and gave me a VitaMix and set of utensils for my new kitchen.
It was State Fair time again! We had a remarkable (and unusual) cool day so totally enjoyed the entire day at the Fair with the Blooms.
