About Me

Rog and Sue Lloyd sold their home in Meadow Vista, CA in July, 2005 and enjoyed life aboard their catamaran NEOS for eight years. They sailed the 48 foot catamaran throughout the Caribbean, through the Panama Canal and on the Pacific Coast from Ecuador to Mexico. Neos was sold in July of 2013 and Rog and Sue returned to life on land. They are now settled in Rocklin, CA close to family and contemplating how they will spend their future as CLODs; cruisers living on dirt.

November 2015

November 1 brought a major change in the weather. We went from highs in the mid 80’s to highs in the mid 50’s literally overnight. Brrr! We had to make a run to Goodwill to buy coverings for the new plants as we had a week of low 30’s at night.

We started the month out meeting an old friend from high school days. Danny recently moved to Plumas Lake so we met for breakfast in Lincoln and had a delightful 2 hour Sunday brunch. Mid month we had the family come over for family portraits. I had ordered a remote for Rog’s camera and it arrived 2 hours before the kids did. Thank you Amazon Prime! We had everyone dress for their favorite hobbies or pastimes. Two hours later, we had some really great pictures and a week later I got the prints back from Costco and posted the new picture with our Christmas card.

Then we had another brunch date with our friends the Adamsons who brought along their daughter, Alani. I’m not sure why we keep doing Sunday brunches…we are retired and can go any day, but there is something nice about Sunday morning brunch. Ryan joined us for lunch a few days later…haven’t done that in a long time. We signed the truck that we bought with him 2 years ago over to him so we are down to 2 vehicles again.

Our niece, Bev, hosted a baby shower for her new granddaughter-to-be so Rog and I headed down to Elk Grove and were able to catch up with Bill and Nita’s lives. Then, one week later, we trekked down to Orinda for a Lloyd Thanksgiving at Jack and Lynn’s. We haven’t seen Jack’s kids for about 30 years. They are all married and have teenagers of their own now. We had a fabulous afternoon and what a feast!!

For Karissa’s date this month, we went to her favorite dinner place, Black Bear Diner and she had her usual chocolate chip pancakes. We are taking both kids to The Nutcracker next month, so this date was dinner only.

With lots of minimum days and days off this month, we were able to have a few craft projects with the kids. We used small pebbles to make birds on a branch, graham and goldfish crackers (and lots of gooey frosting) to make ocean scenes, whirligigs, and oreo turkeys.

Rog and I finished the house painting project. Before we could do the sides of the house, the barge board needed considerable repair. To make it easier to reach the board, Rog finished the arbor. Then he was able to stand on it to reach the barge board. Rog filled all of the holes and then fiberglassed and sanded. Then we were able to finish the painting. We even painted the playhouse. No more bright blue.

The day after Thanksgiving, we headed 3 blocks away and picked out our Christmas tree. By the end of the day, the house and tree were completely decorated. Let the Christmas season begin!!
