About Me

Rog and Sue Lloyd sold their home in Meadow Vista, CA in July, 2005 and enjoyed life aboard their catamaran NEOS for eight years. They sailed the 48 foot catamaran throughout the Caribbean, through the Panama Canal and on the Pacific Coast from Ecuador to Mexico. Neos was sold in July of 2013 and Rog and Sue returned to life on land. They are now settled in Rocklin, CA close to family and contemplating how they will spend their future as CLODs; cruisers living on dirt.

November 2016

I forgot Halloween in last month’s log. Max and Karissa came by to show off their costumes. Max was Joker and Karissa was a mermaid. They spent an hour or so trick or treating with Ryan and Beth joining them for a couple of blocks. Beth was a 50’s teenager with blond wig and poodle skirt. Fun holiday.

This month started out with a root canal. Never much fun, but Dr. O’Neill did a good job and it was over and done quickly.
Much more fun later in the month was our niece’s wedding in Woodland. She was radiant and it was a fun afternoon of eating, dancing, and chatting.

Zaucha’s joined us for lunch at KT Noodles mid month. The gal we had bought the house from 3 years ago had told us to be sure to try them out. Took us a while, but we were pleasantly surprised. It doesn’t look like much, but they have about 150 options and the ones we tried were delicious. We hope to continue our monthly lunch dates with the Zauchas...they are somewhat nomadic so may not be around long!
We went to Noodles and Company with Micki and Brian and chatted for 2 hours. Before they met us in the Fountains, they hit the Galleria and got a photo with Santa. Probably got their list in early with him as well.
We hosted Thanksgiving and had 10 here. I made the turkey stuffing on Tuesday, and on Wednesday made the other side dishes. Rog deboned the turkey and rolled it into a roast with lots of seasonings. So by Thursday, pretty much everything was done. I was able to watch the parade while I set the table and did last minute prep. I have to say, I do miss the old parade. Now it seems to be one big commercial for Broadway and network shows. .They did show the Rockettes... though I can’t believe we saw all of the bands, floats and balloons. Oh well. Rog cooked the turkey on the Weber and it tasted fabulous. Micki and Brian joined us after a nice, relaxing and filling dinner. Everyone was gone by 7 and Rog and I got the table cleaned off and dishes done then sacked out.

The kids came over twice this month for projects and once just for fun. We made autumn loop trees the first day and Max drew a huge thankfulness tree for our dining room window. The kids made leaves for everyone to post what they are thankful for.

The second craft was Thanksgiving turkeys made out of pretzel logs. After they left, I used up the rest of the ingredients to make enough turkeys to use as place markers for our Thanksgiving dinner.

Tuesdays are still Studio Movie Grill Day here. We saw Hacksaw Ridge, The Accountant, and Fantastic Beasts. Still can’t beat that brownie sundae!!!
It was Max’s turn for a date and we took him to the mall for a bunjee jump and to spend $10. His big goal was to do a somersault on the bunjee and he finally perfected it. But he had a hard time finding anything he liked at the mall for $10. So off to Toys R Us where he found a motorcycle he liked. We topped the afternoon off with Coldstone.

The project this month was the waterfall. Rog got the boulders moved into position and snaked the PVC pipe from the pump up to the top of the hill. He used a piece of slate for the last drop off and fiddled with rocks and puddles until it made a wonderfully soothing sound. Hooked up the electrical using a temporary extension cord and we were up and running! He helped me prune the trees on the hill and get all of the leaves up in front and in back. We know the leaves will continue to be a challenge for another month or so, but it looks good now.

So November comes to an end. The Christmas poem is done, the kanjis wrapped, most of our shopping was done online the weekend after Christmas, and the house is decorated. I don’t know how many more years we will continue with the fresh tree but I have certainly improved on selecting the right one. Took us about 15 minutes on the lot from start to finish. So now we are ready to enjoy the holidays!!
