We started the month off with Rog’s birthday.
I only get 2 weeks to be the young chick married to the old man so I make the most of it. Since his big day fell on a Sunday, we headed up to Tahoe for lunch at Jakes. Ry, Beth, Chel and the grandkids all joined us. Great time! The lake is full again and the day was perfect. After a big lunch on the deck and a piece of hula pie that Rog passed around the table, we walked around the malls and the dock. Then back to Rocklin.
On the 4th of July, we headed to Roseville Fairgrounds and parked on the side of the main road, The Blooms joined us and we snacked, chatted, and enjoyed a great show. The getaway at the end was super easy from where we parked.
I conveniently left my credit card at Jakes so we had to make another trip to Tahoe. We took the opportunity to hike around near the museum at Fanny Bridge a bit. Then back down to the hot valley. This July has the distinction of never getting below 90 degrees any day of the month. Luckily we do dip down to the 60s overnight so we can cool the house down.
The Nordstroms popped by for a card game and we had our usual monthly lunch out with Zauchas. We went to the Chef’s Table which has doubled in size since we were last there.
The Blooms have inherited 4 white meat rabbits. They have made it clear to the kids that these are not “bunny pets”. Eric is already planning rabbit stew for the winter solstice. The family went on a camping trip for 3 days so Rog and I went over to water and feed them. They are gorgeous.
Max asked to go ice skating for his date. He only used the buckets for a short time before heading out to the main floor and using the railing on the side for balance. He did quite well. He also requested Moo’s for a burger lunch, then we headed to Smoosh for ice cream sandwiches. This was a new experience for us. Really good.
The kids spent the entire month working on their fairy houses. The roofs are pretty much done although Karissa decided to paint her shingles; a different color on each one. That is taking a little extra time. But the stones are all on and we started putting grout on. We should get them done in August. Karissa took the plunge this month and had her hair cut. It looks really cute on her.
Michelle and the kids took me out to breakfast at Four Sisters on my birthday. Then we all came back to our place for birthday cake (Costco’s chocolate mousse cake). Rog spoiled me the rest of the day. The following Saturday, we had a birthday BBQ with the family.
