About Me
- NEOS
- Rog and Sue Lloyd sold their home in Meadow Vista, CA in July, 2005 and enjoyed life aboard their catamaran NEOS for eight years. They sailed the 48 foot catamaran throughout the Caribbean, through the Panama Canal and on the Pacific Coast from Ecuador to Mexico. Neos was sold in July of 2013 and Rog and Sue returned to life on land. They are now settled in Rocklin, CA close to family and contemplating how they will spend their future as CLODs; cruisers living on dirt.

June 2020
The lockdown continues. Restrictions are slowly being lifted, but now masks and social distancing are required in public. Rog is back at karate where they practice on the lawn and “spar” from a distance. In aikido, they are doing outside practice once a week with weapons. Even the gym opened up mid month. They use a phone app to reserve a time to practice as well as to have contactless check-in. They are open for an hour, then closed for 30 minutes cleaning. Makes it tough for us to get in but we have readjusted our mornings. So things are getting more normal.
Even more important for me, I got a hair appointment. I had made the decision to grow my hair out at the end of February….so I essentially have not had a real cut in 4 months. It really needed some shaping. Feels so good!!
After skipping a couple of months for lockdown, we had the grandkids over for a craft day. I had cooked up some pork and we made tamales from scratch. The kids did a great job and took them home to eat. They reported success and said they were really good.
Max came over to work with Pops on a Father’s Day present for his dad. It took about three work afternoons, but he ended up with a really neat 3D goldfinch.
On Father’s Day, we had the family over for a brunch. First time we have been able to “congregate” since Christmas. We were able to enjoy our new patio and had a great time just relaxing together.
Max had a virtual graduation. The teachers went to every student’s house and took pics of each grad. Then they made a YouTube with some musical numbers by students as well as speeches. It was well done. We were able to take Max to Leatherby’s for his graduation present. They did a good job of spacing folks out and were a bit heavy on the disinfectant but the ice cream was great! Later in the month, we took Karissa for her date. We ended up sitting at the same booth and I had my sundae and Pops had his banana split. Karissa had a clown sundae. Then we went to our house and watched “Onward” and had popcorn.
We finished up the patio. The drip system is in, the berry containers moved into position, the screens trimmed up and the door almost complete. We are waiting for sturdier hinges to hang the door, so moved on with planning the aquaponics system. We went up to Placer Supply and bought a 125 gallon water trough but had to wait until the weekend for Ryan to help us haul it down here. I have been researching and studying, slowly compiling the things we need and Rog designed the structure. Hope to get that done in July and get one crop in before winter.
