About Me
- NEOS
- Rog and Sue Lloyd sold their home in Meadow Vista, CA in July, 2005 and enjoyed life aboard their catamaran NEOS for eight years. They sailed the 48 foot catamaran throughout the Caribbean, through the Panama Canal and on the Pacific Coast from Ecuador to Mexico. Neos was sold in July of 2013 and Rog and Sue returned to life on land. They are now settled in Rocklin, CA close to family and contemplating how they will spend their future as CLODs; cruisers living on dirt.

April 2021
The month started with a morning for egg coloring. The kids did a great job, finishing up 18 eggs ready for the Easter Bunny. After lunch, we took Karissa to her last day of space camp. She attended the class every day for a couple of hours during her spring break and enjoyed learning a bunch of stuff about space. On Sunday morning, the family came over for an egg burrito breakfast followed by the egg hunt. After the hunt, we enjoyed a special dessert that MIchelle made for us.
Now that Rog and I are vaccinated, it’s time to start catching up on some of the things we weren’t able to do. We took Michelle to Mimosa House for a long overdue “end of semester” celebration. I enjoyed a yummy peanut butter, banana and chocolate crepe. We had the Nordstroms over for cards and dinner. Rog and I took the trophy with one game each. And the Zauchas had us over for lunch and conversation, Bobbi was the well planned hostess, with food coordinated with locale as we moved from Hawaii to Costa Rica to Texas. Clever!
The weather has been delightful and I have spent hours out in the garden trimming, weeding, fertilizing and spraying for bugs. Things are blooming and Rog was happy with his wisteria this year. Unfortunately, the aquaponic system is not doing so well. I overdid the ammonia and am having a hard time getting it neutralized. I lost 2 batches of koi and lost all of my nitrites. So back to square 1. The plants are not doing very well without nitrates so I had to start some new seedlings as well. Live and learn.
Max picked up his new truck...a project that will keep him busy for months. It took a lot of pushing to get it into its spot next to the garage. Meanwhile, the boat now has new carpet.
Rog continues to work on the new cabinet under the TV. He also found time to get the barge board on our south wall refinished.
The hike this month had to be pushed out a week so that Max could get the truck. The forecast was for rain, so the group backed out. Rog and Max were hoping to test out their rain gear but it didn’t start raining until they got into the car to come home. The mild weather gave them an almost perfect hike.
Our plan for Karissa’s date was to go out to lunch, then to go kart racing at K1 Go Karts in Sacramento. The lunch was great. We went to Olive Garden and had quite the lunch. But when we got to K1, they said they couldn’t get us in until 5:30. We couldn’t wait the 4 hours, so we decided to go to Leatherby’s instead. Nobody was very disappointed. We will try karting next month.
I finally got into the chiropractor at the end of the month and was pleased with the results. Still not back to normal but not sure what normal is anymore.
