About Me

Rog and Sue Lloyd sold their home in Meadow Vista, CA in July, 2005 and enjoyed life aboard their catamaran NEOS for eight years. They sailed the 48 foot catamaran throughout the Caribbean, through the Panama Canal and on the Pacific Coast from Ecuador to Mexico. Neos was sold in July of 2013 and Rog and Sue returned to life on land. They are now settled in Rocklin, CA close to family and contemplating how they will spend their future as CLODs; cruisers living on dirt.

June 2021

We finished our job of helping transport kids to and from school as they finished up their school year.
With the CVID pandemic, we were unable to host our annual Lloyd get together at Christmas. So we had “Christmas in June” with an afternoon Lloyd BBQ. We enjoyed hamburgers, chicken, sausages and great company. It was hot so only the kids braved the back yard. But fun was had by all.
Rog started physical therapy for heel pain in preparation for his big hike. They are working on his big toe as well since they feel that the pain in his toe is affecting his gait which, in turn, affects his heel. After a few treatments he is feeling like it is really helping. Rog and Max had an overnight campout to test out the night gear. Biggest obstacle was boredom the afternoon they got to camp. They decided they needed to bring cards or something to do in camp in the evenings.
Kalen Adamson’s wedding to Ambria is this month and we decided to head up for it. We left for Montana just as a heat wave hit California. We got through Utah and spent the night in Jerome, Utah at the local Elks Club. The next day we got all the Way to Bozeman, Montana and got in a day of relaxation before the short trip up to White Sulphur Springs. The wedding was casual/cowboy and a whole lot of fun. The next day we headed up to Whitefish to see the Adamson’s new custom built home. What a gorgeous place! We left Monday morning with stops in Vancouver, WA and Redding before getting home on Wednesday around 10am.
The next weekend Rog did his final preparatory hike. It was an overnight and this time Mchelle and Karissa joined him and Max, They went to Fordyce Creek and were pretty hot and tired by the time they got back.
Our washer broke down right before our Montana trip. We ordered a new pump and it arrived just after we got back. Rog installed it and we tested it out….washer still broken. I called a repairman who said our problem was using a cheap Chinese knock off. So we returned it and ordered an LG pump. That meant another week without a washer, but this time installation went much quicker and it works like a charm. I never thought I would be so excited to wash clothes!!
We hired Max to do some odd jobs around the place and he worked hard turning my compost, looking for leaks in the waterfall and cleaning the aquaponic system. Nice to have a young hand to reach things I can’t reach anymore. Meanwhile, Karissa is spending every afternoon with the Rocklin Theater Group. After two weeks, they will perform Willy Wonka Kids. She will be an Oompa Loompa and is loving it.
