About Me
- NEOS
- Rog and Sue Lloyd sold their home in Meadow Vista, CA in July, 2005 and enjoyed life aboard their catamaran NEOS for eight years. They sailed the 48 foot catamaran throughout the Caribbean, through the Panama Canal and on the Pacific Coast from Ecuador to Mexico. Neos was sold in July of 2013 and Rog and Sue returned to life on land. They are now settled in Rocklin, CA close to family and contemplating how they will spend their future as CLODs; cruisers living on dirt.

December, 2014
We worked hard to get the house ready for Christmas. We had 2 family dinners scheduled and wanted to be as far along on our remodel project as possible. We finished the crown molding and baseboard in the living area, me as the painter with Rog doing the installation.
On the 12th, Home Depot sent over the carpet installer and we completed a huge milestone. Within hours after he left, we moved the furniture into our new living area and put the dining room table set into the old living area, now the dining room. We put up the Christmas tree and all of the decorations.
I asked Rog to make a box valance for the dining room as I finished sewing the drapes. Just as I was finishing them up, the sewing machine broke and I had to finish the last seams at Michelle’s while my machine was in the shop. Meanwhile, Rog went all out with the valance. The finished product was pretty ornate with Asian influence in his trim work. It was perfect. We hung the drapes, finished the crown molding in the dining room and I was finally able to hang my kimona on the wall, now that the dirty remodeling is finished.
Rog moved on to the hood over the cooktop. This is a complex piece of work with 4 small cabinet sections, the actual hood for the vent and 4 pieces of trim. Some was painted, some was stained and some was fiberglassed. By Christmas, the cabinets and trim were complete. Since you can’t see the vent anyway, it was fun to put it together temporarily to show off until we have to take it apart to install the hood.
We started the Christmas season off with my sister’s annual party, followed a week later with my niece’s cookie exchange. On the 18th, we had our date with Karissa. It was her turn for the Polar Express where we took the ride on the train to the North Pole where we saw Santa. He later boarded the train to give each of us a bell. It was a magical trip and so much fun to share with her.
For our anniversary, Ryan and Beth treated us to the third Hobbitt movie. We loved it. Sad to know that both trilogies are complete now. The week before Christmas, we had a spaghetti dinner with the Lloyd family.
Christmas Eve we joined Michelle and her family for their bonfire with hot dogs and s’mores. Then on Christmas Day, we started at 7am at the Blooms to watch the kids open their presents. Then it was back to prepare for the dinner at our house with more family. I changed it up this year and we had prime rib instead of turkey. I was a bit concerned about overcooking it, but it turned out perfectly. It was a fabulous day and I love my new house more and more every day. So easy to entertain in it!
Our Mondays with the kids were spent doing Christmas things. We made Christmas trees out of waffle cones and candy, centerpieces with pine boughs, and covered the dining room window with cotton ball snowflakes.
What a wonderful holiday season!!! We have been here a year and are so close to finishing up the inside. It has been fun and exciting. The house now is 100% ours and we love it.
