About Me

Rog and Sue Lloyd sold their home in Meadow Vista, CA in July, 2005 and enjoyed life aboard their catamaran NEOS for eight years. They sailed the 48 foot catamaran throughout the Caribbean, through the Panama Canal and on the Pacific Coast from Ecuador to Mexico. Neos was sold in July of 2013 and Rog and Sue returned to life on land. They are now settled in Rocklin, CA close to family and contemplating how they will spend their future as CLODs; cruisers living on dirt.

February 2018

The month started out with Max's twelfth birthday. Our gift was stained glass “training” and he has spent a few days with Pops to pick out a pattern, buy the glass, draw and cut out the pattern, and practice cutting glass. Pops also joined him for one Saturday afternoon making a solar boat with Scouts. They meet every Saturday and are working towards a competition in a few months.

Both grandkids joined us for crafts twice this month. The first one was spent making fruit loop bird feeder hearts and bead necklaces. On President’s Day, we made marshmallow eagles and worked on a stars and stripes coloring pattern.

Karissa had her date later in the month. We had pizza for lunch at Pizzaiola and then saw Peter Rabbit at Studio Movie Grill with dessert. Rog and I had our usual sundae and Karissa had a milkshake.

Rog travelled down to LA with his dojo senior, Mike. They attended the annual Black Belt Convention. Surprisingly, they were honored with a presentation from Sensei Oshima for “2017 Dojo of the Year, SKA-West”. Quite a shock to both of them. Mike followed up with a board meeting a week later and presented each board member with a copy of the certificate.

The weather this month was absolutely gorgeous. It actually hit the 70’s. I took advantage of it and got both front and back yards trimmed and weeded. I cultivated all of the soil in the front as well. Rog dug out the rain runoff ditch in the backyard, removing the soil that has accumulated in the rocks. He put in a French drain and then replaced all of the rock. Shouldn’t flood any more! His other project this month was to put a new finish on our kitchen island. He sanded it down a bit and then put on 3 coats of polyurethane. Looking good!

At the end of the month, we went to the King home for a reading of a new play Brian has written. Rog and I had to leave a bit early to take Karissa to her performance at the Roseville Theater. She has started theater class in lieu of ballet and seems to be enjoying it. She even had her own line to say!
