About Me

Rog and Sue Lloyd sold their home in Meadow Vista, CA in July, 2005 and enjoyed life aboard their catamaran NEOS for eight years. They sailed the 48 foot catamaran throughout the Caribbean, through the Panama Canal and on the Pacific Coast from Ecuador to Mexico. Neos was sold in July of 2013 and Rog and Sue returned to life on land. They are now settled in Rocklin, CA close to family and contemplating how they will spend their future as CLODs; cruisers living on dirt.

May 2018

We joined Sue’s family at her sister’s house for a Kentucky Derby party on Cinco de Mayo. Rog shared the winnings with Beth for picking the top winners. Fun time.

For Karissa’s date, we went to the Galleria shopping mall and explored virtual reality. We started with lunch in the Food Court, then headed to a kiosk that took you on an adventure as you sat in an egg-shaped chair with a headset on. I joined her on a ride into Dreamworks and then on a kiddie roller coaster ride. Then we went over to a storefront that had virtual reality games. Karissa played Job Simulator for 30 minutes and seemed to really enjoy it.

Rocklin Academy Gateway had a musical program at the park across the street in the evening on the 17th so I walked over to meet up with the Bloom family to watch. Every class performed and, luckily, it wasn't too hot out. We actually found a shady spot under a tree.

Michelle completed her first quarter at Arizona State with straight A’s, so off to Mimosa House to celebrate! Love their breakfasts. This is also “Bloom BD Month” as both Eric and Michelle celebrate May birthdays. Their kids are getting pretty creative with their homemade presents.

Our craft day with the grandkids was a minimum day at their school. We made rainsticks out of long cardboard fabric bolt tubes. We looked it up on the internet and found that they were used in Australia, Africa and South America. Max decorated his with Australian aborigine designs and Karissa made hers uniquely “Karissa designs”. They both turned out really good.

On Memorial Day weekend, we went to a BBQ reunion of the “Ski Cats”, a group of friends that we hung around with in the early 70’s. Some of them I have not seen for over 30 years. It was fun to catch up with everyone. Interesting that we were all just starting out back then and now we are all retired.

Meanwhile, we continue to pay our weekly dues at the local cinema. Rog has really started to get into his model railroad. He made trees, bridges, and started mountains and model building. It is really starting to look interesting.

He did find some time to pour cement for the footings of the new shed and helped me with the heavy lifting in the garden. He also made a speaker box for his brother in law.

I have been working daily in the yard, trimming and weeding. I am watering a little more regularly this year. That, combined with the cooler weather we are having this year, is helping the ground covers to cover the yard. It is so much fun to watch things grow and bloom. Gotta love Spring!

We ended the month with a Court of Honor for Max. He got first and second class ranks and numerous merit badges.
