About Me

Rog and Sue Lloyd sold their home in Meadow Vista, CA in July, 2005 and enjoyed life aboard their catamaran NEOS for eight years. They sailed the 48 foot catamaran throughout the Caribbean, through the Panama Canal and on the Pacific Coast from Ecuador to Mexico. Neos was sold in July of 2013 and Rog and Sue returned to life on land. They are now settled in Rocklin, CA close to family and contemplating how they will spend their future as CLODs; cruisers living on dirt.

JUNE 2018

This month was Max’s turn for a Virtual Reality date at the Galleria shopping mall. The kiosk wasn’t open when we got there, so we went straight to the VR Game Store. Max chose to play Ninja Fruit and wore himself out hacking and hewing with 2 swords, making fruit salad and avoiding bombs. Then we headed to a kiosk that took you on an adventure as you sat in an egg-shaped chair with a headset on. Max took the Jurassic Park and roller coaster rides. After a stop for pizza at the Food Court, we took him to the arcade where he got free tokens for a straight A report card. The lucky guy hit it big and got about 180 coupons to redeem. He picked up a drum set and a handful of small goodies.

We spent much of the first 2 weeks of June preparing for our cross country road trip. We had Trucksmart install a step under the passenger door for me: HUGE help. Costco rotated our tires and Holt’s did an oil change and general maintenance.

Rog had finished the speaker box for brother in law, Tom, so we met the Allens for lunch in Elk Grove for the delivery. On the way home, our engine light went on and Tess (our van) started choking. We drove straight to Holt’s and left her there. Michelle happened to be on her way over so that Max could cut a piece of wood, so she picked us up and took us home. We had planned to leave the next morning for our road trip but this caused a delay. We were just thankful that it happened BEFORE we left! Turned out to be a bad fuel injector. That, combined with a delay getting the parts and the tool to install them, the van wasn’t ready until Wednesday about 3pm. We immediately picked it up and came home. We had the van packed up, toilet and water jugs filled and readied, and the house closed up within an hour.

Our road trip across the US for a Walsh Family Reunion and to pick off the 5 states that Rog has not been to lasted from June 13 to July 11 and will be covered in my next blog.
