About Me
- NEOS
- Rog and Sue Lloyd sold their home in Meadow Vista, CA in July, 2005 and enjoyed life aboard their catamaran NEOS for eight years. They sailed the 48 foot catamaran throughout the Caribbean, through the Panama Canal and on the Pacific Coast from Ecuador to Mexico. Neos was sold in July of 2013 and Rog and Sue returned to life on land. They are now settled in Rocklin, CA close to family and contemplating how they will spend their future as CLODs; cruisers living on dirt.

November 2018
We lost a dear family member to cancer at the end of last month. Chris lived a good life and the church was packed with friends and family. Always hard.
The biggest thing happening around this household during November was a complete change in diet. We are going to a nutritionist at our doc’s office after being told to cut the carbs. Our visit with Beau last month got us motivated to try Dr. Wahl’s diet. So now we are on her paleo diet and have spent the last few weeks getting used to it. I am doing the Paleo Plus (Michelle calls it paleo on steroids) and Rog is still sneaking in a few crackers and Kirkland trail mix but still keeping his carbs below 60/day. This also means a lot more oils and fats, meat and greens. We also only eat twice a day with snacks during the day. We have a veggie scramble every morning to get in our 3-4 cups of greens/day and I have really expanded my dinner menu as we try new things. I was getting into a real rut with about 10 dinners I rotated through. We have had a different meal every day so far. Only found a few we couldn’t stand. Both of us feel good; not hungry and good energy. Even lost a few pounds, but I am trying hard not to. The hardest part is tracking it all for our nutritionist.
Both kids had dates this month. We took Karissa to the Harris Center for Peter Pan and then out to dinner at Red Robin. The play was put on by kids from the El Dorado Musical Theater and they were outstanding! Amazing voices and acting. Very very well done. Of course, we all had tears in our eyes as we clapped for Tinkerbell.
We took Max to see the new Fantastic Beasts movie. He knew the characters much better than we did so could follow the plot better but we all enjoyed it. We followed the movie with a hamburger and shake at Taylor’s in Loomis. If you haven’t been there, pop in and just look at their list of shakes. Amazing…
The kids came twice for crafts this month. I made up a batch of playdough and they made pumpkins and turkeys for the Thanksgiving centerpiece. A few weeks later, they made place settings and decorated the table runner. On Thanksgiving, we had our immediate family come an hour early for family pictures. Unfortunately, they all turned out blurry and the best of the bunch was all of us in a crazy pose. Oh well...the background trees are gorgeous! Betty, Doug and Hannah joined us for dinner, then Micki and Brian came for dessert. Everyone left a few pounds heavier.
We spent the next few days decorating the house for Christmas. I made a huge step this year and for the first time, we used an artificial tree. Live trees are going for almost $50 and they don’t even have a pine smell….just a bunch of needles that get everywhere. The tree I got last year the day after Christmas looks pretty doggone good and I bought a pine candle.
At the end of the month, Max got his braces on. Time marches on:)
