About Me

Rog and Sue Lloyd sold their home in Meadow Vista, CA in July, 2005 and enjoyed life aboard their catamaran NEOS for eight years. They sailed the 48 foot catamaran throughout the Caribbean, through the Panama Canal and on the Pacific Coast from Ecuador to Mexico. Neos was sold in July of 2013 and Rog and Sue returned to life on land. They are now settled in Rocklin, CA close to family and contemplating how they will spend their future as CLODs; cruisers living on dirt.

December 2018

Busy month! We started out with some medical; ultrasound for me, ShingRix for Rog, a final nutritionist appt for both of us. All good. Then some running around for Rog as he renewed his CA CCW, applied for Arizona CCW and 3 more trips to DMV to transfer his old TIOGA I license plates to the van.
In between, we had the annual King Christmas Party and a neighborhood get together at Ron and Marilyn’s.

Max came over to finish the stained glass bird he was making for Michelle for Solstice. Our project with the grandkids this month was more place settings. For the Lloyd get together, they made gingerbread cookies that set in candy cane holders. I wrote the names on the cookies with icing. Then they made name holders out of twigs for the Christmas Day dinner. They all turned out pretty dang cute and the gingerbread was well received.

The Zauchas loaned us their tables and chairs for both dinners so everyone was able to sit together; 14 for the Lloyd dinner and 17 for Christmas Day. The Lloyds came on the 22nd for our 3rd annual lasagna dinner. Michelle brought a vegetarian lasagna and I made the original as well as a paleo version. Nita was ill and Ed was working, but we had a great time catching up with the rest of them.

The Solstice bonfire was celebrated at Michelle and Eric’s. The night was bearable; no wind or rain so we were pretty comfortable. The next morning, we returned for gift opening with all of the Blooms. So fun to watch the kids slowly open gifts and try to make the morning last as long as they could. No more ripping through wrapping paper. Good times.

Rog and I had a quiet Christmas Eve and exchanged our gifts. I got a new cookware set. Out with the nonstick and bring on the stainless steel. Rog unwrapped BOB; a karate training mannequin.

On Christmas morning, we went to Ryan and Beth’s for gift exchange and breakfast. Beth even made some paleo muffins that were quite tasty.

Back home, we prepared for Christmas dinner with our extended family. Prime Rib and turkey plus all of the trimmings topped off with cake and pies. Rog and I did well on our diet and actually stayed below our calorie targets. Neither of us want to lose any more weight so we now have to try to add a bit.

We ended the year attending an Open House at some friends’ new home in Auburn and were home by 8:30.

So farewell to 2018 and welcome to 2019!!!
