About Me

Rog and Sue Lloyd sold their home in Meadow Vista, CA in July, 2005 and enjoyed life aboard their catamaran NEOS for eight years. They sailed the 48 foot catamaran throughout the Caribbean, through the Panama Canal and on the Pacific Coast from Ecuador to Mexico. Neos was sold in July of 2013 and Rog and Sue returned to life on land. They are now settled in Rocklin, CA close to family and contemplating how they will spend their future as CLODs; cruisers living on dirt.

November 2019

We had a craft day with the kids and made place cards for the Thanksgiving dinner. Using leaves, we sprayed them gold and then the kids wrote names on them with white paint. While they dried, we did some sculpturing. We had about 2 cubic yards of leftover sand and I made a clay out of about 8 cups of it. It wasn’t a great clay, but the kids made the best they could out of it.

The next week was Karissa’s date. We picked her up from school on a minimum day and went to lunch at the Galleria Food Court. Then we headed to Young Art where she painted an adorable puppy masterpiece.

At the end of the month, we headed up to Auburn Elks Club for a dinner to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Auburn 49er Lions Club. Met up with sone folks we haven’t seen in a VERY long time! Fun evening with entertainment by Dean Martin and Marilyn Monroe. Rog helped out with the raffle.

We also had a date with Max this month. We went to Murphys for his 3rd cave outing. Mercer Caves is more shaft-like with steep steps, so I passed on it and waited for them in the van. For lunch, we headed into town and ate at an old firehouse called Firewood. Great burgers!!

Ryan bought a special brine for the turkey and Rog deboned it before we soaked it overnight. I really didn’t expect it to make much difference, but it was remarkable! So moist and tasty. Guess we will have to make that a regular addition. It is pricey though! Cost 3 times as much as the turkey:)

The weather was absolutely gorgeous for the first 3 weeks of the month and it gave us time to finish the pavers. I helped Rog put the polymer sand between each paver. Then we soaked it and repeated the application one more time. Then Rog finished the electrical which enabled us to turn on the waterfall again….sure have missed that! The project is done for this year. Next spring we will tackle the walls and roof.

The weather changed almost overnight to wet and cold. We had a slight respite on Thanksgiving Day which worked out great for the family picture. Rog has started working on the Moss Rock and Timber Railroad again and I went on a closet cleaning binge. And LOTS of leaves to keep up with!
