About Me

Rog and Sue Lloyd sold their home in Meadow Vista, CA in July, 2005 and enjoyed life aboard their catamaran NEOS for eight years. They sailed the 48 foot catamaran throughout the Caribbean, through the Panama Canal and on the Pacific Coast from Ecuador to Mexico. Neos was sold in July of 2013 and Rog and Sue returned to life on land. They are now settled in Rocklin, CA close to family and contemplating how they will spend their future as CLODs; cruisers living on dirt.

January, 2019

We spent a day at the Rail Show at Cal Expo. It was pouring rain out, but you wouldn’t know it from inside the buildings, bustling with model railroad enthusiasts. We actually made it out without purchasing anything:)

We changed up our grandkid date this month by taking both kids to the Wizard of Oz play at Harris Center. Our seats were fabulous and the play was great. The next week, we took Karissa out to breakfast at Huckleberry’s where she enjoyed Stuffed French Toast. For our craft day, the kids did string art, making a cardboard beanie. Meanwhile, Karissa has joined Rog’s Aikido group and practices on Tues and Thurs nights. She seems to enjoy it.

I was able to attend Max’s holiday concert with Eric and Karissa. It was delayed a month because his regular band instructor was on medical leave and it took them awhile to find a knowledgeable replacement. Mr. Thorton came out of retirement to help out and they all did a fabulous job. It was interesting to see how the kids advanced from fifth grade level up to the seventh/eighth grade level. They did a really good job and it was an enjoyable evening. I joined the Blooms for ice cream at Baskin Robbins, although I was a good girl and just enjoyed the sights and smells.

On the 20th, Rog and I went WAY off our diet and had dinner at The Kitchen in Sacramento. Ryan and Beth (and Princess) had given us a gift card for babysitting. It was the most extravagant and unusual dinner we have ever been to. The price is steep, but the food was fabulous and it was entertaining from start to finish. Everyone arrives at 5 and is treated like royalty for the next 4 hours. We took a tour of the kitchen, munched hors d'oeuvres and Rog bought the wine sampler that gave him a different wine with every course...and there were 6 courses. We sat at a bar across from the cooks and were able to watch all of the action. The chefs explained everything they were doing and carried on conversations with all of us throughout the meal. We worked our way through an extensive meal and we were doing pretty good until “Act VI”, the dessert. Chef Kelly gave us a warm cookie slathered with whipped icing, then they brought out SIX desserts. That finished me off. They then gave out prizes and we got the grand prize since we were using this evening to celebrate our 48th anniversary. Great evening, great memories!

Rog worked on the garage, sorting through everything and filling the shed to the rafters. He patched holes, taped the drywall, sanded, painted, built shelves and organized. It is no longer a garage...we must now refer to it as a workshop! He still has lots to do, but you can see a floor and he can find things easily.

The weather took a turn for the better and I took full advantage of it out in the yard. I raked, weeded, and trimmed. I was able to finish both the front and back yards before the cold and rain returned. Now I can’t wait for Spring and everything to start budding.
